Nintendo is raising the price of its Switch 2 console worldwide, citing market changes, and expects a sales drop over the next year.

In a move that is sure to disappoint gamers, Nintendo has announced that it is raising the price of its Switch 2 console globally, citing changes in market conditions. The price hike comes as the company forecasts a drop in sales over the next year. As of September 1st, the Switch 2 will cost $499.99 in the US, up from its current $449.99 price.
The price increases won't be limited to the US, with Canada also seeing a $50 bump to $679.99, up from $629.99. In Europe, the Switch 2 will increase by €40 to €499.99, which works out to approximately $587. The changes are set to take effect on September 1st for these regions.
However, gamers in Japan will have to adjust to the new prices sooner, with the changes taking effect on May 25th. The Switch 2 will see its price increase from ¥49,980, approximately $318, to ¥59,980, around $382. Other Switch products will also see similar price increases in Japan.
These price hikes come as Nintendo faces changing market conditions, though the company did not provide specific details on what these changes entail. The impact on sales remains to be seen, but the price increases are likely to be a disappointment for gamers who have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get their hands on the Switch 2.
