Mitsubishi Electric Opens Serendie Street Boston Digital Transformation Hub
Mitsubishi Electric has launched its first Western digital transformation hub, Serendie Street Boston, to enable co-creation, real-world testing, and scalable solutions across industries.

Mitsubishi Electric US Inc. has officially opened Serendie Street Boston, its inaugural digital transformation hub in the Western world. This new facility is designed to facilitate co-creation, real-world testing, and scalable solutions across various industries.
The name 'Serendie' combines 'serendipity' and 'digital engineering' (DX), reflecting the company's approach to innovation. The hub is part of Mitsubishi's global strategy to integrate digital intelligence with physical systems and create lasting value for customers and society. According to Mike Corbo, executive officer at Mitsubishi Electric Corp.
and president and CEO of Mitsubishi Electric US, 'Serendie Street Boston represents a significant step forward in our global strategy to integrate digital intelligence with physical systems and create lasting value for our customers and society.' The Boston hub follows the launch of a similar initiative in Yokohama, Japan, last year. Mitsubishi aims to evolve into a 'circular digital-engineering' company, integrating devices, systems, and multi-domain services into unified solutions. The company has assembled a team of experts, including 80 Ph.D.s and 60 to 70 interns, at its Boston-area facilities, which employ a total of 120 people full-time.
The 7,950 sq. ft. (738.5 sq.
m) DX site features various demonstrations, including autonomous robot mapping and monitoring, wireless charging systems, and AI-powered platforms. These technologies aim to optimize building systems, improve energy efficiency, and integrate AI into existing infrastructure. Kyle Reissner, vice president of product management for Serendie Street Boston, emphasized the collaborative nature of the space, where teams work closely with customers and partners to test solutions and apply insights directly to operational environments.
The hub also showcases the Onyx AI platform, which automates difficult AI research steps, and the AnyMile platform for advanced air mobility governance. Mitsubishi partner AWL Electricity Inc. demonstrated a wireless charging system for a 10W, detachable end effector with a Mitsubishi MELFA robot arm.
The company has also acquired Nozomi Networks Inc., a San Francisco-based developer and distributor of operational technology (OT) risk-trending systems, as part of its digital transformation strategy. The launch of Serendie Street Boston highlights Mitsubishi's commitment to innovation and collaboration. The company is a partner of MassRobotics and supports startups and innovation in the region.
As Seiichiro Takahashi, consul general of Japan in Boston, noted, 'The new administration [of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi] in Japan is very focused on innovation and healthcare. Our mission here is to develop partnerships.'
