New PC? This MX Linux version is the best distro for you
MX Linux AHS is a top-notch distribution that offers stability, performance, and ease of use, making it an ideal choice for modern PCs and laptops.

If you're in the market for a new PC and want an operating system that just works out of the box, look no further than MX Linux. This distribution is a dual adventure between the antiX and MX Linux communities, built around the Debian Stable distribution, which provides a highly stable foundation. As a result, MX Linux performs brilliantly on PCs of all types, from older systems to midrange and powerhouse computers.
There are five different versions of MX Linux, each catering to different needs and hardware configurations. One version, MX-25.2_Xfce_ahs_x64, stands out for its inclusion of the 7.07 kernel, new graphics drivers, and firmware, making it ideal for newer systems that are 1-3 years old. This version ships with a Liquorix kernel that's tuned for high-performance audio and video, making it an outstanding option for gaming.
It also includes DKMS packages to ensure that modern GPUs and Wi-Fi chips work seamlessly. The Xfce desktop environment on MX Linux AHS may not be modern, but it gets the job done with speed that's on par with, or even superior to, any desktop OS. When I installed MX Linux XFCE-AHS as a virtual machine, it did not fail to impress me out of the box.
The custom layout and Conky configuration display the time/date and RAM/CPU usage percentage nicely. You also get a wealth of preinstalled applications, including Firefox, LibreOffice, and Thunderbird. So, what makes MX Linux AHS the top choice?
It's all about new hardware. If you have a modern PC or laptop and want to ensure that it works with Linux without any tweaking, MX Linux AHS is the way to go. The combination of the Liquorix kernel, the latest MESA release, and DKMS ensures that newer hardware works out of the box.
And with the Xfce desktop environment, newer hardware performs exponentially better than expected. If you're a gamer or audio designer using hardware that's 1-3 years old, MX Linux AHS might be the best distribution for you. Although the desktop UI may seem slightly less than modern, the speed you gain from using Xfce is well worth it.
Plus, you can always install a newer desktop environment like KDE Plasma on top of MX Linux AHS for a more elegant look and feel.
