White House AI Advisor Sriram Krishnan to Depart Trump Administration
Sriram Krishnan, a former tech executive and VC, is leaving his role as White House AI advisor at the end of June.

Sriram Krishnan, a senior policy advisor on artificial intelligence at the White House, is departing the Trump administration at the end of June. In a post on X, Krishnan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the American people, saying it has been 'a privilege' to work under President Donald Trump. Krishnan, a veteran tech executive with experience leading product teams at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook, and Snap, was one of several industry figures to join the Trump administration.
Most recently, he was a partner at Andreessen Horowitz, a firm whose founders backed Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. During his tenure, Krishnan worked closely with David Sacks, the investor and podcaster who stepped down as AI and crypto czar earlier this year. Krishnan highlighted several key accomplishments, including the administration's AI Action Plan, which prioritized data center construction over regulation and safety.
Trump has since signed several executive orders related to AI, including one aimed at challenging state-level regulations and another focused on oversight. The president has also endorsed the idea of the government taking an equity stake in major AI companies. Krishnan praised Sacks for his 'continuing advocacy for America winning on AI,' which he described as 'crucial' to the administration's efforts.
Looking ahead, Krishnan said he plans to 'build institutions' that address pressing challenges facing America and its allies. According to The Washington Post, he is set to establish an outside institution that will allow him to continue influencing Trump's AI policy. Krishnan emphasized that many tough issues remain to be navigated, including energy, data centers, and ensuring Americans can benefit from AI.
As he departs the White House, he expressed his commitment to tackling these challenges alongside others.
