ZDNET's recommendations are based on many hours of testing, research, and comparison shopping. We gather data from the best available sources, including vendor and retailer listings as well as other relevant and independent reviews sites. And we pore over customer reviews to find out what matters to real people who already own and use the products and services we’re assessing.
When you click through from our site to a retailer and buy a product or service, we may earn affiliate commissions. This helps support our work, but does not affect what we cover or how, and it does not affect the price you pay. Neither ZDNET nor the author are compensated for these independent reviews. Indeed, we follow strict guidelines that ensure our editorial content is never influenced by advertisers.

Gaming laptops are among the most expensive PCs that you can buy. Manufacturers are putting world-class hardware into a relatively small form factor. And it's for that reason that I really like this HP Omen deal, because it's a great way to get into PC gaming without needing to pay a few thousand dollars. This deal brings the barrier to entry to a more comfortable level.
For a budget laptop, this HP Omen model is quite solid. At its core, it is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with boost speeds of up to 5.3 GHz to power through everything you throw at it. It is paired with an Nvidia GeForce 5060 graphics card, ensuring realistic visuals and lighting in all your favorite games.
The system also houses 32GB of DDR5 RAM, which I think is perfect for a gaming machine. You need all that extra power for a PC like this to adequately support high-resolution gaming. Without it, there's a high chance you'll run into performance problems.
