['Google has wrapped up its keynote address at its annual I/O developer event, showcasing a range of new AI features and demos, including its upcoming Android-powered smart glasses. The company\'s AI efforts took center stage, with 900 million people using its Gemini assistant and over 50 billion images generated with Gemini. Google\'s goal for 2026 is to integrate AI agents into all its major services, including Search, Gmail, YouTube, Docs, and the Chrome browser.
CEO Sundar Pichai described the company\'s AI progress as being in a period of "hyper progress," but acknowledged that users want to see tangible value in their daily interactions with these services. One of the key announcements was the integration of AI agents directly into Google Search, dubbed the "intelligent search box." This new search experience, rolling out today, allows users to ask questions and receive contextual answers, as well as generate images or short video clips to explain complex concepts. For example, a search query about black holes yielded a video that visually explained the process, embedded directly in the search results.
Google also introduced Generative UI, a feature that creates custom layouts for different types of search results, such as videos, images, and news articles. This feature will start appearing in Google searches this summer. Furthermore, Search agents are being integrated more deeply across Google\'s platforms, including Ask Maps, which allows users to ask questions on Maps like they would with a chatbot.
In terms of AI model updates, Google announced the release of Gemini 3.5 and Gemini 3.5 Flash, a more affordable version of 3.5 Pro. Both will be available immediately in Google\'s Search and the Gemini app. The Gemini app itself is getting a redesign, called Neural Expressive, featuring colorful backgrounds, a new typeface, and animations for live voice chats.
Other announcements included Daily Brief, a personalized digest of users\' days, pulling information from their calendar, email, and other sources to summarize and prioritize their plans. Additionally, Google is adding Gemini-powered features to its services, such as Ask YouTube, which allows users to pose natural search queries and receive relevant YouTube videos.']
