Prime Video Unveils Full Trailer for Spider-Noir

The wait is over for fans of the web-slinging superhero. Prime Video has released the official full trailer for its upcoming live-action series, Spider-Noir, at CCXPMX26 in Mexico City over the weekend. The trailer has been unveiled in two formats: a black and white version, reminiscent of the classic film noir style of Raymond Chandler, and another in color, dubbed 'True Hue'.

The Spider-Noir character has its roots in Marvel Comics' 'noir' line, launched in 2009, which reimagines familiar Marvel characters in an alternate universe, typically set during the Great Depression in the US. A version of the character, voiced by Nicolas Cage, made a brief appearance in the animated films Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Across the Spider-Verse (2023), and is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse. Co-showrunner Oren Uziel, a self-proclaimed film noir enthusiast, was drawn to the Marvel series and its dark, gritty tone.

The live-action series takes place in 1930s New York, but with a twist: the spidery superhero is not Peter Parker, but Ben Reilly, a hard-boiled private investigator with a secret superhero identity, The Spider. Uziel felt that Parker's character was too closely associated with a boyish high school type, which didn't fit the noir vibe. Cage stars as Ben Reilly, a seasoned but down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to confront his past life following a deeply personal tragedy.
